Due to the expedited schedule requirements this project was design/build. Alfred Benesch Co. was already engaged with the owner, and when it came time to recommend a company that could deliver the results Johns Manville was expecting Benesch recommended ICC. The bridge repair blocked Johns Manville's only entrance & exit. Johns Manville temporarily shut down the plant, trusting that ICC would make all efforts to complete the work as efficiently as possible. ICC completed this project within a week to the delight of Johns Manville.
Work included removal of the existing asphalt overlay and timber curb-and-guardrail system, and removal of existing timber deck and steel superstructure in span 2. We installed three new H-piles on the north side of Pier 1, erected new span 2 superstructure with eight new W24x104 steel beams and 6"x10" new timber decking. Scope included waterproofing the bridge deck, as well as installation of a new curb-and-guardrail system and a new asphalt overlay.
